FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CARROLLTON, Texas (July 21, 2006) – Just in time for summer travel, Motel 6 today released two podcasts recorded exclusively for the chain by Jack Hanna, Director Emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Motel 6 has been pet-friendly since its founding in 1962, and continues to develop pet-friendly initiatives in support of the effort. Hanna, author of both podcasts, provides tips for safe summer traveling with pets through a duo of podcasts, one lasting under two minutes and the other at less than five minutes. The two podcasts are available for download at www.Motel6.com.
“Jack is one of the most recognizable and well-known pet and wildlife experts in the industry,” said Eric Studer, senior vice president of marketing services for Motel 6. “By providing these short podcasts, we hope they will help pet owners better prepare for summer vacations with their pets.”
In the shorter of the two podcasts, Hanna offers five short preparation tips to provide peace of mind that comes with knowing ones pet is in safe hands while traveling. Everyone who’s taken a family road trip knows that at some point, the car becomes a zoo. Take a pet or two along your trip, and there is potential for some great vacation stories.
In the second podcast, Hanna shares an adventure he had with a pair of Japanese snow monkeys who decided to take a little unplanned vacation on their own from the Columbus Zoo. In addition to the adventure, Hanna shares a number of tips which include conducting research, settling the itinerary and using a trip planner prior to the trip.
Hanna, known to the animal world and the general public as “Jungle Jack,” is instantly recognizable by his khaki safari outfit and deep tan. He is one of America's most beloved naturalists and adventurers. In addition to hosting his television series, “Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures”, he is also a regular guest on shows including “Good Morning America,” “Larry King Live,” and “The Late Show With David Letterman.”
Motel 6, one of the first major hotel chains to reach out to consumers through podcasts, launched its first podcast in December 2005. The podcast featured radio personality and Motel 6 spokesperson Tom Bodett counting down the top six reasons to stay at a motel instead of with your relatives this holiday season, which is also available for download at www.Motel6.com.
Motel 6 plans to offer more podcasts in the future covering a range of topics, including how to plan a road trip and how to participate in hotel franchising. Podcasts are downloadable audio recordings that you can listen to on your computer, or put right into your iPod or other MP3 player.
